Taylor Bibee grew up in Irvine, California. She started dancing at 7 years old, doing mainly jazz, acro-jazz, contemporary and modern. She started ballet when she was 9 and trained mainly at a small studio called Lovett Dance Center, where they competed all year long. She also trained at Dmitri Kulev Classical Ballet Academy. The biggest competition she trained for was Youth America Grand Prix, where she competed for 7 years in a row and made it to the finals in New York City every year. She even got 1st place in the classical division at the regionals in San Francisco in 2013, which was her last year at home. She participated in summer intensives at American Ballet Theater, San Francisco Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (on scholarship) and Ballet West (on scholarship). Then she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where she trained with Ballet West in their trainee division for two years. She danced with the company in ballets including The Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake as well as The Little Mermaid and Aladdin with the school. She then moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she trained with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre in their graduate program on scholarship for two years. She danced several ballets with the company including The Nutcracker, Le Corsaire, Giselle, Alice in Wonderland and Romeo and Juliet. With the school she also danced the lead roles in Etudes and La Slyphide, as well as Russian corps in George Balanchine’s Serenade.
Now she’s here with RCB!
Some fun facts about her… her dream roles are Giselle and Juliet! Those two ballets are her absolute favorite. The music is genius and beautiful, and she’s “a sucker for a tragic love story.” She would also love to dance Jiří Kylián’s Petite Mort at some point in her career. Again, the music is beautiful and she loves the choreography.
