Dancers From The Rochester City Ballet To Perform at The Moorings Park Center in Florida

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Three dancers from the Rochester City Ballet will travel to Naples, FL next month to perform in the Bower Chapel at the Moorings Park Retirement Community. The invitation to the dancers came as a result of the successful performance at the grand opening of the Italian Baroque Organ held in October at the Memorial Art Gallery.

“This is an exciting opportunity for our dancers and for RCB,” said Rochester City Ballet artistic director, Jamey Leverett. “We’re doing more and more performances and it’s a honor to get recognized by other states.”

The dancers performing are Jim Nowakowski (Webster), Sari Ostrum (Victor) and Tara Lally (Pittsford). They will perform a piece entitled, Girolamo Frescobaldi (1583–1643) – Toccata Quarta (Il secondo libro di toccate, 1627), choreographed by RCB artistic director Jamey Leverett. Additionally, the dancers will perform a new choreographed piece created to the music of Dieterich Buxtehude, a fantasia on the hymn, “How Brightly Shines the Morningstar.” Musical guests include Hans Davidsson on the organ and Ulrika Davidsson on the piano.

The Rochester City Ballet (RCB), founded in 1987, is a non-profit, educational corporation. The company presents a full season of quality dance to diverse audiences and helps keep the arts alive by presenting performances to educate and entertain adults and children at community events and special RCB performances. The RCB has created at least 20 new ballets including Firebird, Don Quixote, Cinderella and the annual Nutcracker.
